Until January 2006 Bolton Abbey has been my family home for over 20 years. During this time we have seen many changes. The extension and refurbishment of The Devonshire Arms Country House Hotel, the Cavendish Pavilion, the purchase and refurbishment of The Devonshire Fell, the building of the New Village Shop and Post Office, The Forge Garage and Strid Wood Visitor Center; the conversion of The Devonshire Spa and The Pantry. We hope the many changes have provided focal points for community life, improved our staff environment in which they work so hard caring for our visitors and maintaining the Estate for this and future generations to enjoy, and not least enhance your enjoyment of Bolton Abbey.
Whether you choose to explore the ruins of the Priory, wander along the woodland nature trails, stroll beside the River Wharfe, cross the exposed heights of heather moorland or simply relax in this romantic location and just enjoy being here, I hope you gain as much pleasure from Bolton Abbey as has my family over the years.
